Kitchen links

Sends the proof or the invoice as a link that just opens. No login, no app.

Kitchen links is a page scoped to exactly one thing - a delivery's proof, or one invoice - that opens for whoever holds it, with no account, no password and nothing to install. It is sent on the same WhatsApp thread a customer already orders on, and every link expires after sixty days.

The doctrine behind it is the one the whole product is built on: the customer side never changes. A kitchen that has to remember a password to see last Tuesday's invoice is a kitchen that phones instead, and the wholesaler answers that call. A link that just opens is the whole feature.

How it works

  1. 01Whenever a customer needs to see something - a delivery's proof, or an invoice - a link goes out on the same WhatsApp thread they already order on.
  2. 02The link opens straight to that one thing: a signature and photos, or the invoice, line by line, priced.
  3. 03No account, no password, no app. Whoever holds the link sees exactly what it was made for, and nothing else on the account.
  4. 04The token itself is never stored in the clear, only a hash of it, and it is scoped to one delivery or one invoice, not a browsable history.
  5. 05Every link expires after sixty days, so one left sitting in an old chat thread does not stay open forever.

What the customer actually sees

A no-login link open on a phone, showing one delivery's order lines with no login, password or app in sight.
Opened, not logged into

What it replaces

Kitchen links replaces a customer portal to log into, or a wholesaler having to dig out and resend an old invoice or delivery proof by hand. The link just opens, every time.

What it works with

  • WhatsAppEvery link is sent on the same thread a customer already orders on.
  • Proof of deliveryOne kind of link opens straight to a delivery's signature and photos.
  • Invoice runnerThe other kind of link opens straight to one priced invoice.

Plainly

What it will not do on its own

  • It does not replace a real login for the wholesaler's own staff - drivers, buyers and the office still sign in properly.
  • A forwarded link only ever shows the one thing it was scoped to; it does not open anything else on the account.
  • It does not work once it has expired - a customer asking about something older than sixty days needs a fresh link sent.

What it replaces

A customer portal to log into, or a wholesaler having to dig out and resend an old invoice or delivery proof by hand whenever someone asks for it again.

Time it saves

The few minutes it takes to find and resend a copy of something that already went out once, every time a customer asks again.

Worth in money

Say that happens a handful of times a week, at an office wage of around £12 an hour - a pound or two each time. Small on its own, but it is a task that stops happening at all, week after week.

Questions people ask

Does the customer have to install an app or make an account?
No. The link opens on whatever phone it is sent to, straight to the one delivery or invoice it is for, with nothing to sign up for.
What happens if the link gets forwarded to somebody else?
It still only shows the one thing it was scoped to. It is not a login to the account and cannot be used to browse any other order, delivery or invoice.
How long does a link stay live?
Sixty days. After that it no longer opens, and a fresh one has to be sent.
What can a customer actually see through one of these links?
Exactly what it was made for - one delivery's signature and photos, or one invoice, line by line - never a list of every order on the account.
